Planting for Pollinators

  • Mar-Lu View 3810 Lander Road Jefferson, MD, 21755 United States (map)

On October 13th, from 10:00 am until Noon, David Muns, a Frederick County Master Gardener and beekeeper, will be presenting a program on the importance of pollinators in our landscape. He will explain how YOU can help save our pollinators - honey bees, native bees, butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds - by planting a pollinator friendly garden.  David has planted over 100 varieties of self-seeding annuals and perennials in his pollinator garden at the Frederick News-Post, where he keeps his honey bees.  He will also provide a teaser on honey bees: the most proficient pollinator of them all.

A number of perennials will be available so that you can begin your own pollinator friendly garden- and perhaps, become certified in the new Frederick County Pollinator Friendly Garden Certification program.  Preparation, planting, and maintenance for the garden will also be discussed.
